Going to the high school prom is one of the most important events that you will ever attend while you are still a teenager. For many girls it is an even that takes many weeks or even months of preparation. You must first of all find a date or decide that it will be more fun to go single with all of your best girl friends. Once you've decided who will be a part of your entourage, you can start getting down to the nitty gritty details of what you will wear. After you've chosen a date and your dress, you are ready to move on to accessories, the most important of which are your prom shoes. It is important that you don't shop for prom shoes until you have chosen a dress or at least narrowed down your dress choices to possible two or three different options. The reason for this is that you'll want to have your dress in mind when considering what styles of prom shoes will look best with it. One of the most important things about choosing prom shoes is getting the colors to match just right. As you might imagine, this is really hard when you don't have any idea of the colors that will be included in the dress. When you are trying to match prom shoes with your dress, it is a good idea to keep some simple rules in mind. Most importantly, if you are going to be wearing a sleek, classy dress that features a solid color or dramatic cut, you should think about choosing prom shoes that are a little bit more on the flashy or glamorous side. This will be ok because the two elements of your outfit will not be competing for attention. If you are wearing a short black dress, for instance, it is perfectly acceptable to wear strappy heels in a metallic color. If you are wearing a dress that is flashier all on its own, then you will want to tone down your prom shoes by wearing something that is a little simpler. This will allow people to keep their attention up on your dress where it belongs instead of wondering why in the world you left your house wearing those shoes. If you are wearing a print dress or a dress with a lot of flashy features like sequins or lace, you should opt to a plainer shoe in a solid color. |
